Almost one in five Dutch people will have to deal with a depression during his or her life
disorder. Depressive disorders have a major impact on the lives of patients, their families and on
the care. There are various treatments for depression, but it works in about 30% of the patients
patients do not receive any treatment, which leads to a long search for the most suitable treatment.

 

Kaying Kan focuses in her dissertation on improving care for patients with depression by using routinely collected mental health care data, ie registration data about treatments collected in daily treatment practice.
