the power of drawing
visual (praatplaat)
A visual (or in dutch 'praatplaat') is not a work of art, but a communication tool.
A visual helps to present difficult information in a simple and appealing way. In a visual the core is captured visually, so that dusty annual plan, strategic policy document, work process or change plan does not disappear in a drawer, but really comes to life.
It helps you as a storyteller to convey your story concisely and it helps the recipient to quickly understand what it is all about.
A visual can also help to identify discussion points and arrive at a shared view.
You can use visuals in many situations: for a pitch, presentation of policy, annual plan, state of affairs, strategy or explanation of a complicated subject.
In addition, a talk poster can be a great marketing tool to reach potential customers.
Sometimes the visual is very simple and sometimes there are many small drawings in one big, or even multiple drawings. Depending on what you need, there are more extensive and less extensive options conceivable.

My working method
We start with a design session. I do this by (preferably physically) together with you or in a workgroup, searching for the subject, the goal, the target group and the questions that need to be answered. We end this session with a design sketch.
I make a concept drawing of that
After the first version there are plenty of opportunities to give feedback. I think it is important that the drawing meets your wishes.
You will receive the drawing in vectors. This way the image is always sharp.
If desired, you will receive all drawings separately so that you can use them individually.
Interactive
The visual comes to life even more if you can read the story right along with it. This allows the PDF to be distributed without the need for explanation. In this way, the visual becomes more to live and gains even more depth.
An interactive talk board can be created in different ways:
-
Interactive PDF: Interactive elements are added to the PDF, such as texts that appear when you click on something, links to websites or documents .
-
Interactive plate on your website or on your own website. More information here
I would be happy to prepare a quote for you based on a preliminary discussion.
What clients say...
Ellen created a talking picture about my dissertation. During our first telephone contact, she clearly explained her working method. The design session could take place at short notice and helped me as a researcher to formulate my core message. After this, there was still enough room to give feedback and to arrive at the desired end result. I experienced the collaboration with Ellen as pleasant and am very happy with the talking picture as part of my dissertation!

I found the collaboration with visualPOWER050 very pleasant. It was a challenging task to map a successful rehabilitation process from the perspective of people with pain. Ellen was a good listener and translated my message into a drawing in the right way. I am very pleased with the result! This will soon be published in an international magazine.

What I particularly like about working with Ellen is that she asks good questions about the essence of the drawing. Is it so readable for the target group? Does it summarize the essence? What do you want to achieve with it? In this way, you go through the process through the eyes of the recipient and that makes the end result stronger. And at the same time, it provides new insights into your own objectives and activities.
Ellen's work is so much more than a drawing.

Ellen, you have beautifully visualized our education; the HAN's Master in Circular Economy in one striking visual!
The visual will help us with our information meetings about the master. Interested parties and visitors to our open evenings and the website will receive information about the versatile program of our education in an appealing way. But that's not all. You are also involved in our education as a guest trainer and inspire students to communicate visually about sustainability and the circular economy. It is impressive how quickly and concisely you managed to capture the master in images while our program was unknown to you. That and the pleasant, personal way in which you work with us, mean that we hope to continue to use your talent and expertise for a long time to come. Many thanks!
On behalf of the team of the HAN Master in Circular Economy,
Ellen Burger
The talking picture helped us to get a clearer picture in the working sessions of our action research of the core of our collected results, and therefore the message we want to convey. The sharpening via the drawing also helped us to structure our thoughts in this, and that is nice for complex issues such as guiding female status holders to work.
I also found the coordination with Ellen very pleasant, both in presence during the meetings and the elaboration of the drawing afterwards. The talking picture is already being used!

Ellen is fast, creative and resourceful.
She knows better than anyone how to interpret a sea of words with a pithy, cheerful drawing, in which the message is immediately clear and the details bring a smile to everyone's face.
