Relocare I made these 6 drawings for the Relocare project. These plates were used to explain research results. Relocare: Moving within nursing home care RElocation in Long-term CARE ​ Residents of nursing homes regularly move to another location. For various reasons and not always of your own free will. On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the collaborating Academic Networks for Elderly Care (SANO) started a study in 2020 into the consequences of this and opportunities for improvement. The AWO-L is the initiator of this national research. ​ In the Relocare research, the academic workshops for elderly care in the Netherlands work together and three PhD students were appointed: one in Maastricht, one in Leiden and one in Groningen. The AWO-L is leading the investigation. The central research question is: how can transitions within nursing home care be improved for the elderly and their loved ones. This central research question has now been divided into three sub-questions: What are the characteristics and consequences of relocations within nursing home care for elderly people with intensive care needs and their loved ones? How can relocations within nursing home care be improved, so that the elderly and their loved ones experience the best possible quality of life and quality of care? What are the consequences and experiences of innovative residential care concepts as an alternative to the traditional nursing home for the elderly and their loved ones in the transition process to new forms of living?

SERVICE DESIGN PROJECT HAN This visual shows the project that was done at HAN. The reason was that many cleaners did not feel respected and seen. This project was carried out with the principles of service design. This plate is used to explain the project to others. We are currently converting this into an animation video!

Who am I? My name is Ellen van Heijst and I have worked in healthcare for many years. I worked as a lung function analyst at the UMCG , as Chief of the Asthma/COPD Service and Training Coordinator at Certe and as a relationship manager at the scientific institute GPRI. I regularly had to write reports or records. The administrative pressure in healthcare is a drama and I increasingly tried to present my message or story more visually. That took me less time, my colleagues became happy here and inspired van and we came to more effective communication! ​ Since September 2021 I have been fully engaged in visualizing important messages and I provide training in this. communication draftsman I am not an artist and do not pretend to be. I especially try to make a drawing powerful in its simplicity d. That's my strength. And I believe in the power of the drawings as a means of communication. It helps to convey difficult information in a concise, simple and appealing way. ​ For a talking board I try to find the common thread together with the client and to grasp the essence of the story. Together we often arrive at beautiful ideas and metaphors. My drawings are simple, you will not find many details with me. I only use color if it also has a function. This is the best way to visualize the connections. ​ In addition to drawing myself, I also really enjoy teaching others to make their own visual. Many people think they can't draw. But beautiful results can be achieved with simple tools. And it is precisely the imperfection that makes the drawing come to life and shows what the essence is! Ellen van Heijst
