Who am I? My name is Ellen van Heijst and I have worked in healthcare for many years. I worked as a lung function analyst at the UMCG , as Chief of the Asthma/COPD Service and Training Coordinator at Certe and as a relationship manager at the scientific institute GPRI. I regularly had to write reports or records. The administrative pressure in healthcare is a drama and I increasingly tried to present my message or story more visually. That took me less time, my colleagues became happy here and inspired van and we came to more effective communication! ​ Since September 2021 I have been fully engaged in visualizing important messages and I provide training in this. communication draftsman I am not an artist and do not pretend to be. I especially try to make a drawing powerful in its simplicity d. That's my strength. And I believe in the power of the drawings as a means of communication. It helps to convey difficult information in a concise, simple and appealing way. ​ For a talking board I try to find the common thread together with the client and to grasp the essence of the story. Together we often arrive at beautiful ideas and metaphors. My drawings are simple, you will not find many details with me. I only use color if it also has a function. This is the best way to visualize the connections. ​ In addition to drawing myself, I also really enjoy teaching others to make their own visual. Many people think they can't draw. But beautiful results can be achieved with simple tools. And it is precisely the imperfection that makes the drawing come to life and shows what the essence is! Ellen van Heijst

Singing is healthy you download PDF Singing is a great passion of mine, for doing it together with others. After a rehearsal I may be exhausted, but I also feel energized at the same time. I feel my body flowing. And if the singing goes well, something will happen s magical... there will be a choral sound that you can't achieve alone. During the many years that I have been singing I have built lifelong bonds with other singers (and a conductor :)) I recommend it to everyone!

Regional Approach Personnel shortage For the working group "starting teacher" from the Regional Approach Personnel (RAP) trajectory I made visual the results of a survey that was held among starters, directors and P&O employees, The main outcomes were that more attention should be paid to Space, Attention and Perspective. I also made this plate interactive with explanations and in which all kinds of documents are linked. ​

Sustainability task Real estate company Boekema is facing a major challenge: the existing housing stock must be made more sustainable by means of technical and social innovations. Based on this drawing, Boekema explained their vision on this challenge to their customer and partners. And after the meeting, everyone received the drawing so that the story stuck the next day and beyond. Great example of the power of images!

HappyCare My mother is 93 and like most people her age, she is very vulnerable. Fortunately, her head is still doing well, but she has fallen regularly over the last few months. First because she was trying to pick something up, later because she was tired at the end of the day and recently because she could no longer stand on her legs. My mother has always been active and very independent. The rapid downward spiral was a difficult process for her and for us as children. After each fall, my mother had to give up more independence and our worries increased. She did not want to go to a nursing home and did everything she could to stay at home. And that also worked... Because there were 5 lovely women from Happy Zorg who put their heart and soul into ensuring that my mother could stay at home until it was really no longer possible. Natalie, the 'leader', had already taken care of my mother 5 years ago after her hip dislocated. Nathalie has always kept in touch with my mother. She didn't have to do that, but she did. And how valuable that was became apparent in recent months. It was wonderful how they helped my mother. Nothing was ever too much and everything was done with love. Partly thanks to the Happy ladies, my mother managed to stay at home. Unfortunately, my mother went to a nursing home a week and a half ago. It really didn't work anymore... Last week, as a thank you for all the care given to my mother, I received Natalie Drobe and her team gave a 'business drawing' workshop. I first taught them the basics of how to draw your story or message simply and functionally. They then made a drawing together about their team: What makes their team so special? They drew this drawing on paper, I made it digitally for them in one poster. A beautiful and valuable result. Happy Natalie, Happy Roos, Happy Indy, Happy Jet and Happy Eva…. You have been invaluable to my mother and us over the past period. I hope that politicians will look less at how you can organize healthcare as a business (where competition has proven to be cutthroat and lucrative companies make a lot of money) and focus (and invest) more on the people who do the real work!
