animation Do you want to explain a complex process simply and clearly? An animation captivates and holds the attention. As a result, the information is better processed and remembered. And more importantly, it stimulates our emotional brain. Simple and easy I keep the animations as simple as possible. Precisely because of the simplicity, the message sticks better and the viewer is not distracted by side issues. When do you use animation - to convey information - creating brand awareness and perception My method We start with a design session. I do this (preferably physically) together with you or in a working group, by looking for the subject, the goal, the target group and the questions that need to be answered. The content of the animation should become crystal clear during this conversation. What emotion do you want to convey? What are the key messages? We'll end this session with a script, broken up into small chunks that form the scenes. I make the storyboard based on the script and the scenes. The storyboard is a collection of the text, the drawings and the movement and/or sound effects. The text is finalized at this stage. Based on the storyboard, the final drawings are created. Only small changes are possible after this step. If desired, a voice-over will be recorded and all will be animated. During the whole process you can give feedback so you get a perfect animation at the end. The entire animation can also be made into a visual. After delivery adjustments are based on hourly rate. Guidelines Maximum number of scenes per minute: 10 - 12 Maximum words per minute: 100 - 130 Ideal duration Research shows that after 1.5 minutes no less than 70% of your viewers will drop out. So keep it short and concise! Wetenschappelijk onderzoek Esther Metting Scientific research: Cultural differences in technical acceptance of COPD patients Increasing workload and number of chronically ill people and shortage of staff lead to reduced accessibility of health care. Innovative technological solutions can reduce the burden on healthcare. The aim of this study is to map differences and barriers to health in COPD patients in 4 European countries. What do they encounter? What advantages and disadvantages do they see? I made this drawing for Assistant Professor EHealth Esther Metting at the UMCG.

visualization Patient information and questionnaires I do not understand Oh my, it's so many words I'm not going to read all of that Couldn't that be simpler and shorter? now i understand and i know what to do Incorrect use of medication, uncompleted questionnaires, not at the appointment to appear , is common among people who find it difficult to understand the information that goes with it . And you don't have to be low literate for that. It is therefore important that healthcare providers critically examine their information material and questionnaires to ensure that they are written in such a clear and understandable way that they are attractive to read. By IMAGE and WORD combining this with each other lowers the threshold for many people to read information and the chance that it will also be understood is much greater. A visual is also ideal for explaining difficult medical information on the basis of a drawing. A doctor or nurse can use the pictures to explain a disease or treatment. When a patient takes this visual home is much more likely that the information has been understood and remembered. Please contact us examples Medical visuals Questionnaires patient information

A meaningful portrait A personal portrait, told in images. Some people deserve a special tribute. At a farewell, anniversary or other milestone you want to give something that goes beyond a gift. Something that encapsulates meaning — and invites storytelling. In a personal drawing I try to literally give shape to someone's story. Each part in the illustration refers to a moment, a quality, a memory. Together they form an image, but separately they each carry their own story. This not only makes the drawing a personal gift, but also a way for you to look back, reflect and share your story. A gift that touches and speaks. Please contact us examples

just simple (in collaboration with Stan Geurts) This poster may be shared and printed. JPEG https://static.wixstatic.com/media/2c3443_40b50359e05940ca88bfcd932ab32b93~mv2.jpg “How can we really show what good communication contributes to healthcare?” I discussed that question with Stan Geurts a few weeks ago. Stan is an ambassador for making medical information understandable for everyone. A beautiful combination of word and image! So why don't we make one about our mission for understandable language in healthcare? You can see the result . Three short “comics” in which we show how clear communication directly contributes to better care. Do you also recognize these situations? How can you start communicating clearly today? 1. Avoid jargon! So it is not an infectious picture but an inflammation. Do not speak of a disorder or a syndrome, just say disease. Need inspiration? Checkwww.ishetb1.nl 2. Keep it short and clear. The more information you give, the less the patient remembers. Do you really need to explain the entire metabolic pathway of a calcium/D3 tablet? Very interesting. But isn't it much more effective to say that calcium tablets ensure strong bones? 3. Do not only communicate in words, but also in images, infographics and videos. Patients remember five times as much information when it is conveyed on screen. Need inspiration? Look in my portfolio. 4. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Human memory is fallible. End the consultation with a summary and check whether the patient has understood. Then give the information again in the form of a folder, an image or an instructional video
- Who am I? | VisualPower050
Who am I? My name is Ellen van Heijst and I have worked in healthcare for many years. I worked as a lung function analyst at the UMCG , as Chief of the Asthma/COPD Service and Training Coordinator at Certe and as a relationship manager at the scientific institute GPRI. I regularly had to write reports or records. The administrative pressure in healthcare is a drama and I increasingly tried to present my message or story more visually. That took me less time, my colleagues became happy here and inspired van and we came to more effective communication! Since September 2021 I have been fully engaged in visualizing important messages and I provide training in this. communication draftsman I am not an artist and do not pretend to be. I especially try to make a drawing powerful in its simplicity d. That's my strength. And I believe in the power of the drawings as a means of communication. It helps to convey difficult information in a concise, simple and appealing way. For a talking board I try to find the common thread together with the client and to grasp the essence of the story. Together we often arrive at beautiful ideas and metaphors. My drawings are simple, you will not find many details with me. I only use color if it also has a function. This is the best way to visualize the connections. In addition to drawing myself, I also really enjoy teaching others to make their own visual. Many people think they can't draw. But beautiful results can be achieved with simple tools. And it is precisely the imperfection that makes the drawing come to life and shows what the essence is! Ellen van Heijst
